Responsible for the policy regarding physical development within the Academy. Additionally, leading in all components within the Academy that have a (sports) scientific foundation.

2017 - 2021

PhD-student Ghent University & Sports Scientist KAA Gent

Obtaining my PhD (Data & Technology in Soccer) while supporting the first team of KAA Gent on a daily basis.

2015 - 2017

Master in Sports Training & Coaching

Building on the bachelor, specializing in the theory around Sports Training & Coaching.

2012 - 2015

Bachelor in Physical Education & Movement Sciences

Mixture of practice (from doing sports to teaching) and theory.

About Me

Hi, I'm Youri Geurkink (), a passionate Sports Scientist. I focus on integrating scientific principles into sports training and coaching. With a strong background in physical education and sports science, I work with athletes to enhance their performance. Beyond work, I'm a father of two boys, an avid lifter & runner, and always seeking new ways to grow both professionally and personally.

  • Continuously staying ahead of new developments in sports science. Keeping up with the ever-expanding knowledge in the field. Not always easy when you are handling the day-to-day tasks.
  • Refining the ability to motivate and inspire others. Mastering the art of inspiration and engagement.
  • Improving the clarity and effectiveness of demonstrations and instructions as a physical trainer. Refining my communication for clear, impactful training.
